Along the way he worked as President of Scripture Union Canada. He moved here from Toronto in 2012 to take the position of Rector at St Mary’s and St Stephen’s on the Saanich Peninsula. He is grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to serve as Rector at Church of Our Lord and to be part of the ANiC family. He is married to Christine and they have two teenaged children.
Rev. Peter Umland: was born in Germany, raised in England, emigrated to Canada in the late ‘70s and has been actively involved in ministry since 1995. Peter has served Church of Our Lord as both Lay Minister and Honorary Assistant and in March 2009, became our Assistant Pastor. He is also a certified Prayer Counselor through Elijah House.
Rev. Neil van Heerden: is our evangelist and outreach co-ordinator. He moved with his family from South Africa in 2006, and spent his first number of years pastoring in the Peace region of BC. He is currently involved in a number of outreaches in Quadra Village area. Neil is excited about “Living Edge“, which is community church service we hold on Sunday afternoons in Quadra.
Bishop Rob Badham: Born and raised in England from 1928 to 1950 then immigrated to Canada. Studied Theology and Divinity and obtained a degree in each. Ordained as a priest in 1959. Teaching in Cridge College since 2004. Active in The Cridge Club for Seniors. Am honoured to be part of the merger in our church and believe that it is God’s will that we continue to grow in His Ministry and to reach out and be part of the community. We have a wonderful opportunity to help people to see the teaching of Jesus in their daily activities.
Rev. Glenn Sim: Glenn Sim is a retired priest of 37 years. He is thrilled and honoured to be an honorary associate at Church of Our Lord Anglican Church and a member of ANiC. Glenn graduated from Wycliffe College and was ordained in Toronto in 1972 and served in three parishes in the Diocese of Toronto. In 1983 he answered the call to become a Military Chaplain and was posted successively to Bases in Calgary; Kingston; Chatham, New Brunswick; and finally Victoria British Columbia, in 1994. Glenn took his release from the military to serve in the Diocese of British Columbia at St. Paul’s Esquimalt and then St. Mary’s Saanichton until 2006 when he retired and joined this parish.
Dr. Sheila Sim: Sheila Sim (B. Mus., M.A., Ph. D.) is Director of Music at Church of Our Lord Anglican Church and is extremely thankful for the opportunity to serve God in such a vibrant Christian community. She is pleased that so many members of the parish enjoy singing and playing various instruments and tries to nurture their gifts and abilities. Over the years she has worked in many parishes as organist and choir director. Her most recent church appointments have been at St. Mary’s Saanichton and St Matthias. Sheila has recently retired from teaching music for the past eighteen years in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria.
Rev. Richard Montgomery: served as pastor of two churches in Northern BC for 13 years. He came to COOL in 1999 and is at present the Parish Administrator while also serving as an honorary assistant. What a wonderful privilege in serving a church with so much history but with a leadership that is forward-looking while seeking to be currently relevant.
